DraftKings Showdown CFB DFS Lineup Picks - Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl (12/22/22)

Mike's top CFB DFS lineup picks for DraftKings for the 2022 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. Who can help us take down this showdown slate between South Alabama and Western Kentucky?

There is only one bowl game today because the NFL loves the attention. Seriously? You morons put the game on Amazon Prime. You gave up on the fans a long time ago! The college game on the docket is the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, and I can just about guarantee that it will be a more enjoyable game, but I can definitely guarantee that it will be a more accessible game!

We head to Fort Worth for the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl between Baylor and Air Force. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of opt outs in this one. Josh Fleeks is on his way from Baylor to Nebraska and Dane Kinamon is likely still out for Air Force. That leaves us with a full game of contrasting styles. That's what makes bowl season fun!

I will be providing you with daily college fantasy football picks DraftKings for the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl starting at 7:30 pm Eastern. We will take a look at the best captain plays and the utility plays to go with them.

DFS Captain Plays

Brad Roberts, RB, Air Force ($18,900)

Roberts is one of the highest-usage guys you'll find in any of the bowl games. He has at least 25 carries in every game since Week 6 and only fell below 20 twice in 12 games. Roberts closed out the season with 669 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns in the last four games alone. Yeah, other guys poaching his touchdowns sucks for DFS, but you won't get higher volume anywhere else.

Gavin Holmes, WR, Baylor ($11,100)

The race for the top receiver for the Bears has been an ongoing one that lasted all season. Holmes found himself in that spot in two of the last three games though, so maybe he's the guy? The Bears have a rotation at running back that varies by game and a quarterback that struggled with turnovers, especially late in the season. They have no sure thing. Holmes might be the closest they have right now.

Other Captains: Josh Cameron, Baylor ($9,600)

DFS Flex Plays

Monaray Baldwin, WR, Baylor ($11,000)

Holmes has been the most productive receiver of late, but Baldwin has led the team in targets in each of the last three games. He's the guy with the highest upside on the team. If Baldwin could haul in more of those catches, he has tremendous upside. He might be the fastest guy on a team full of them. I don't know that I would let it ride on Baldwin as a captain, but if you do and he does what he's capable of, you might be sitting atop a GPP.

Richard Reese, RB, Baylor ($9,600)

The true freshman ran for nearly 1,000 yards this year and will likely top that mark in this game. My apprehension is from Sqwirl Williams, who has stolen a lot of carries over the last month of the season. Baylor has leaned heavily on Williams when he is more effective than Reese, but Reese still gets the first crack at the job. Air Force is among the best defenses in the entire country. Reese likely won't have a lot of room here either, but he should be Baylor's best ground threat.

Haaziq Daniels, Air Force ($8,800)

Daniels is at his best when he provides a healthy dose of running from the quarterback spot. The problem is Brad Roberts. Roberts was outstanding for the Falcons over the last month of the season, leaving Daniels will fewer and fewer chances to run. Baylor's run defense has been pretty good, but stopping an option is an entirely different thing. If you use Daniels, you are basically hoping that Baylor shuts down the conventional run game, forcing the Falcons to use other options.

Other Flex Options: Blake Shapen, Baylor ($9,800); Josh Cameron, Baylor ($6,400)

DFS Value Plays

John Lee Eldridge III, RB, Air Force ($5,800)

Eldridge isn't your typical backup. He still sees quite a few carries, even behind a horse like Brad Roberts. Eldridge had 23 carries for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns over the last three games of the season. The upside of Roberts certainly puts a low ceiling on Eldridge, but the decent number of carries and the touchdowns leave him as a cheaper intriguing option.

Qualan Jones, RB, Baylor ($5,400)

Jones was the only back that got any traction for the Bears against Texas, further muddling an already iffy fantasy situation. Will that carry over to the bowl game? The only reason that I think it does is because Air Force can likely limit Reese/Williams as well. Jones gets the most work out of the backfield in the receiving game, so he's my go-to punt and possibly the safest Baylor back.

Other Value Plays: David Cormier, Air Force ($5,000); Matthew Dapore, Air Force ($4,400)
