ANALYSIS: The injury bug has hit NFL quarterbacks early this year with the losses of Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, & Jay Cutler forcing fantasy owners to find a replacement. The good news is there are plenty of decent options on the waiver wire. Two straight solid performances have now placed Derek Carr in the waiver-add spotlight in all leagues. This week Derek Carr will be facing a horrible Chicago Bears defense that has given up the 3rd-most fantasy points to opposing QB's and also surrendered a league-worst 105 total points this season.
In the past two weeks, Carr has posted two straight 300-yard games with a 64% completion percentage. During that time Carr has shown very good chemistry with his new #1 wide receiver, Amari Cooper, who has had two straight 100-yard games. I expect Carr to have another solid game this week, increasing his value even more. If you are looking for a QB, Carr is a player you definitely need to target on the waiver wire immediately, as he may not be there this time next week.
