Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks for Friday 5/7

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 5/7/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to the another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to give your pitching staff a lift because you streamed dumpster Fiers yesterday, we can help. Each day RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

Half of the pitchers today are more than half owned. That doesn't necessarily mean it's the better half of the pitchers we have going. We have a couple of lower-owned guys in good spots. We just have to go pick them out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 5/7 - Shallow Leagues

Mitch Garver (C, RHB, MIN) - 43% Rostered

Matchup: at DET LHP Tarik Skubal

We knew that Garver wouldn't be cold forever, right? He hit his way back into the everyday catcher job with three homers last week. He responded with 3-8 with a homer in the series against Texas. Garver was given the day off yesterday, so he should be ready to go against Skubal. Skubal is an extreme fly ball pitcher who has given up three homers in a game twice already this year. However, he has only allowed one homer at home, but Garver's long ball against Texas was 430 feet. That would have left any park.

Tyler O'Neill (OF, RHB, STL) - 41.2% Rostered

Matchup: vs. COL LHP Austin Gomber

O'Neill is still in the larger part of an outfield platoon for the Cardinals. He still hit .308 with a homer, four RBI, two steals, and six runs scored last week. The only thing that could make this spot better is if the game were in Coors. Or is it? Gomber has pitched much better in Coors than away from home so far this year. He's taking the Jon Gray career path. Gomber doesn't give up a lot of homers, but walks are a huge problem for him. I like the power and speed combo set from O'Neill here. If one doesn't get Gomber, the other should.

Josh Rojas (2B/SS/OF, LHB, ARI) - 40.2% Rostered

Matchup: vs. NYM LHP David Peterson

The lefty-lefty matchup will play here. In Peterson's nine career starts, lefties have hit 43 points higher off of him. The caveat is that he has not given up any of his ten career homers to lefties. It may not matter. Rojas is 8-19 with four homers, six RBI, and seven runs scored in the last five games. He is crushing everything right now. Tim Locastro is back for Arizona, but with Rojas swinging a hot bat and able to play multiple positions, I think he'll still be in there.

Jeimer Candelario (1B/3B, RHB, DET) - 30.3% Rostered

Matchup: vs. MIN RHP Matt Shoemaker

Candelario started slow, but he is hitting .360 with two homers, four RBI, and four runs scored over the last week. Matt Shoemaker's claim to fame is usually keeping the ball on the ground and in the yard. That hasn't been the case this year. Shoemaker pitched well enough against the Tigers in his first start, but the Tigers, namely Candelario, have started hitting since then. Shoemaker has given up six homers in four starts since that Detroit game. It's lining up good to stream a Tiger or two here. There are plenty available.

Hitter Streamers for 5/7 - Deep Leagues

Miguel Rojas (SS, RHB, MIA) - 19.3% Rostered

Matchup: vs. MIL LHP Brent Suter

This isn't chasing Suter. This is more a reflection of a guy batting leadoff being available in over 80% of leagues. Rojas started this homestand with a monster series against Arizona, going 7-14 with a homer, four RBI, and five runs scored out of the leadoff slot. Streaming is as much about finding the hot bats as it is about attacking the right matchups. I'm riding the hot bat here.

Harrison Bader (OF, RHB, STL) - 7.3% Rostered

Matchup: vs. COL LHP Austin Gomber

Bader has two homers and two steals in the last week and he has punished lefties in his career. Gomber has command issues and has been known to give up a lot of fly balls. It's warming up in St. Louis, which means the ball is flying farther. This is a bad combination of elements for Gomber considering that he doesn't pitch well on the road anyway. Gomber doesn't have huge career splits, but nine of his 11 homers allowed have been to righties.

William Contreras (C, RHB, ATL) - 6.5% Rostered

Matchup: vs. PHI RHP Zach Eflin

I know, streaming catchers isn't conventional, but Contreras has started his career 4-10 with a homer, three RBI, and three runs scored. He's playing in a potent lineup, so his potential is higher than most of his peers on waivers in deep leagues right now. Contreras is guaranteed time with Travis d'Arnaud out for and extended period of time. Ride him while he's hot, even if it isn't a permanent solution.

Jake Marisnick (OF, RHB, CHC) - 3.1% Rostered

Matchup: vs. PIT RHP Trevor Cahill

With Nico Hoerner sidelined, Marisnick should see an uptick of playing time. His recent hot streak doesn't hurt anything either. Marisnick has always hit right-handed pitching well enough to stick in the lineup, but he doesn't offer much speed or power. He's 2-5 in his career against Cahill, but only has one run to show for it. Still, Marisnick is showing more pop than usual with four homers in the last seven games.  He should be far higher owned than he is, especially into a matchup like this. Cahill is 1-3 with a 7.40 ERA in five starts.

Pitcher Streamer for 5/7 - Shallow Leagues

Wade Miley (LHP, CIN) - 31.1% rostered

Matchup: at Cleveland

Granted, Miley is the least sexy name on just about any list. This isn't a swimsuit contest though. This is fantasy baseball. That's one place where Miley has improved since including a cutter into his pitch repertoire in 2017. Three of his four years since then have been successful with the exception of last year. The issue for hitters with Miley this year is they are having a hard time squaring up any of his pitches. The 83.6 mph average exit velocity and 31.7% hard hit percentage are getting close to elite numbers. So is the 3.3 degree launch angle. On top of that, Cleveland is under the Mendoza line (.197) against lefties on the season. Miley isn't going to do anything for our strikeouts or K/9 ratio, but he will help with ERA and WHIP thanks to his low walk percentage (6.1%) and teams not being able to square him up. He's a strong option tonight.

Pitcher Streamer for 5/7 - Deep Leagues

Mike Foltynewicz (RHP, TEX) - 6.2% Rostered

Matchup: at Seattle

Folty had an awful start to the season, but he has only given up three runs in his last two starts. Much of that is due to him keeping the ball in the park. He allowed eight homers in his first four starts. He has only allowed one in the last two. The strikeouts aren't getting back up there yet, but that could happen against the free-swinging Mariners. Seattle has struck out 28.8% of the time against RHP this season and they are hitting a pathetic .143 in May. They wont stay cold forever, but with Folty pitching well and heading to a pitcher's haven against a team that can't hit a beach ball right now, he has the potential for a great game off the wire.
