Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Ben Zobrist Is Improving

Chicago Cubs second baseman/outfielder Ben Zobrist (back) is improving and could be available off the bench on Thursday. Zobrist was scratched from Tuesday’s contest with back tightness. Zobrist missed the beginning of spring training with the same issue and the club is likely to take it easy with the veteran. Zobrist has been off to […]

Heliot Ramos Hits First Home Run

San Francisco Giants top prospect, outfielder Heliot Ramos, hit his first home run of the year on Wednesday. Ramos has been off to a slow start for Single-A Augusta and has hit just .235 early on. Ramos has good bat speed and power, but the big flaw for the 18-year-old has been his ability to […]

Austin Riley Continues Hot Start In Double-A

Atlanta Braves third base prospect Austin Riley continues to stay hot for Double-A Mississippi. Riley went 3-for-4 on Wednesday with two triples, two runs and two RBI. Riley is coming off of a strong season and is the team's No. 8 prospect. Riley now has three straight multi-hit games and has a .370 batting average […]

Blake Rutherford Is Raking

Chicago White Sox outfield prospect Blake Rutherford picked up three doubles in five at-bats for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem on Wednesday. Rutherford was the main piece brought back from the Yankees in last year's deadline deal for Todd Frazier, David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle. Rutherford is a top-100 prospect and is now hitting .357 with […]

Javier Baez Moved Up In Batting Order

Chicago Cubs second baseman Javier Baez has been moved to the second spot in the order for Thursday’s game. Baez has been seeing the ball very well lately and is 10 for his last 33 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored. Baez is a streaky hitter but when he’s hot, he […]

Albert Almora Hitting First Thursday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora will hit first on Wednesday. Almora doesn’t draw many starts versus right-handed pitchers, so it’s good to see him get that chance versus Luke Weaver. Manager Joe Maddon has rotated Almora with Ian Happ and Ben Zobrist and until one of them runs away with the job, they can all […]

Evan Longoria Stays Hot

San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria continues to heat up. Wednesday evening he hit his third home run and finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run and a walk. He is now nine for his last 20 and has two home runs and five RBI over that span. Longoria got overlooked in a lot […]

Jeff Samardzija Set To Return Friday

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (pectoral) is set to return Friday versus the Angels. Samardzija had a smooth rehab and is ready to roll. The starter is able to help owners in all formats, but you may want to see how he fares in his first game back before putting him back in […]

Carson Fulmer Continues To Struggle

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carson Fulmer continues to get knocked around on the mound, this time by the Oakland Athletics Wednesday afternoon. Fulmer went one inning, allowing five hits, four runs, two walks and recorded zero strikeouts. It wasn’t an ideal game for him to only go one inning, as the White Sox game […]

Yoan Moncada Steals Third Base In Three Days

Chicago White Sox second baseman Yoan Moncada stole his third base in three days Wednesday versus the Athletics. Moncada has also been heating up with the bat and hit his second home run in two games. He finished Wednesday’s game 2-for-7 with three runs and a grand slam. He’s starting to heat up and owners […]

Michael Kopech Could Be Considered For Spot Start

Phil Rogers of MLB.com reports that White Sox top pitching prospect Michael Kopech could be called up for a spot start. The White Sox have Thursday off and Friday’s scheduled starter James Shields has appeared in relief Wednesday for the White Sox. It would be a bit of a surprise to see Kopech promoted at […]

Joe Panik Gets Wednesday Night Off

San Francisco Giants second baseman Joe Panik will get Wednesday evening off versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Panik has cooled off since his hot start to the season and is six for his last 22. Infielder Kelby Tomlinson will replace Panik and bat seventh. He can be avoided in all leagues.

Evan Longoria Returns To Lineup Wednesday

San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria (ankle) will be in Wednesday’s lineup. Longoria was expected to miss a few games after hurting his ankle, but he is back after having missed just one game. Longoria was off to a slow start but has hit .368 over the past week.

Eloy Jimenez To Report To Double-A Thursday

Chicago White Sox top prospect, outfielder Eloy Jimenez, will report to Double-A Birmingham on Thursday, the club has reported. Jimenez is one of the best offensive prospects in the game but is getting a late start to the season after a pectoral injury. Jimenez has a strong chance to force his way into the big […]

Cal Quantrill Continues To Impress In Double-A

San Diego Padres pitching prospect Cal Quantrill put in another strong effort for Double-A San Antonio Monday. Quantrill went five innings, allowing four hits and one run (unearned) and struck out four batters. He continues to impress with a 1.23 ERA in his first two starts but has issued nine walks. Quantrill has a bright […]

Mike Soroka Strikes Out Seven Batters Monday

Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Mike Soroka struck out seven batters for Triple-A Gwinnett Tuesday. It wasn’t his best start of the season as he allowed three runs and six hits over five innings, but it’s good to see that he only walked one batter. Soroka continues to impress and now has a 2.87 ERA and […]

Avisail Garcia Sitting Wednesday Versus Athletics

Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia will rest Wednesday versus the Oakland Athletics. Garcia has struggled this year and is hitting .233 with just one home run and three RBI on the season. Garcia had the best year of his career in 2017, but has not had much success this year. Leury Garcia will play […]

Cubs-Cardinals Postponed Wednesday

The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals have been postponed Wednesday. With both teams having a day off Thursday, the game will be played at 1:20 pm central time. The expected matchup is Jon Lester versus Luke Weaver. Make sure to remove any players from these teams from your lineups on Wednesday.

Jeff Samardzija Could Return Saturday

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (pectoral) could return on Saturday. Samardzija will throw one more bullpen session, and if it goes well, he should be able to make his debut against the Angels on Saturday. Samardzija should be owned in all formats. The matchup […]

Johnny Cueto Strikes Out 11 Batters In Return

Returning from the disabled list Tuesday evening, San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto didn’t miss a beat. Cueto went seven innings and allowed just two hits while striking out 11 batters and allowing zero runs. Cueto picked up the no-decision as he was out dueled by Diamondbacks starting pitcher Patrick Corbin, who allowed just […]

Javier Baez Hits Another Home Run Tuesday

Chicago Cubs second baseman Javier Baez was the Cubs lone bright spot on Tuesday evening versus the Cardinals. Baez hit his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot, and finished 3-for-4. Baez now has five home runs over the past week and continues to heat up. He also was moved up in the […]

Tyler Chatwood Allows Seven Walks In Loss

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood struggled with control Tuesday night by allowing seven walks in 4 2/3 innings. Chatwood also struck out seven batters and allowed two runs on one hit. The walks have been a problem early on for Chatwood, but his velocity has been up. His shaky command may have been due […]

Welington Castillo Out Of Lineup Tuesday Versus Athletics

Chicago White Sox catcher Welington Castillo will get a day of rest Tuesday evening versus the Athletics. Castillo returned to Monday’s lineup after missing a few games with a sore knee. Omar Narvaez will be behind the plate and bat ninth. Narvaez can be avoided in all leagues.

Johnny Cueto Activated And Will Start Tuesday

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (ankle) has been activated from the disabled list and will start Tuesday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cueto only missed one start after he hurt his ankle while working out. He faces a tough task against the Diamondbacks but has a 0.69 ERA in two starts and should be […]

Jose Martinez Batting Fifth Tuesday

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Jose Martinez (wrist) will bat fifth against the Cubs on Tuesday. Martinez injured his wrist on Sunday versus the Reds but is good to go Tuesday. Infielder Greg Garcia will also get the start at third base with Matt Carpenter getting the start at second base. Garcia will bat seventh. Get […]

Ben Zobrist Remains In Cubs Lineup

Chicago Cubs second baseman/outfielder Ben Zobrist will remain in the Cubs lineup in Anthony Rizzo’s first game back from the disabled list. Zobrist started the year on the bench, but with outfielders Ian Happ and Albert Almora struggling, Zobrist will remain in the lineup and bat first. The veteran has been seeing the ball well […]

Anthony Rizzo Activated From Disabled List Tuesday

The Chicago Cubs have activated first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) from the 10-day disabled list. Rizzo had been dealing with back tightness and will return Tuesday and bat third. In a corresponding move the club has optioned first baseman Efren Navarro to Triple-A Iowa. Make sure to get Rizzo back in all fantasy lineups if you […]

Anthony Rizzo Still On Track To Return Tuesday

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) remains on track to return Tuesday evening versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Rizzo had missed over a week with back tightness and the Cubs are hoping that his time on the disabled list will prevent any further issues during the season. Owners should be ready to roll with […]

Yoan Moncada Gets First Stolen Base

Chicago White Sox second baseman Yoan Moncada stole his first base of the season Monday evening. He finished the game 1-for-3. Moncada has been struggling with the bat early on, but it is good to see him being aggressive on the base paths when he has the opportunity. He has 20/20 potential and despite his […]

Reynaldo Lopez Strikes Out 10

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez continues to shine. On Monday he struck out 10 hitters and gave up four hits and two runs. Lopez’s only issue was that he walked four batters. He now has gone 19 innings and only allowed three runs. He is making a case to be universally owned and […]
