Adam Thielen - Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Picks for Week 1 (2025)

Adam Thielen - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Adam Thielen fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 1 (2025). Should you start or sit Adam Thielen for fantasy football lineups in Week 1?

BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ team leagues

POSITIONAL VALUE: WR3

ANALYSIS: The 35-year-old was recently traded back to his former team, the Minnesota Vikings. Adam Thielen spent the first nine seasons of his NFL career with the Vikings before moving to Carolina for two seasons.

In 2023, Thielen enjoyed a solid debut season in Charlotte, totaling 1,014 yards with four touchdown passes on 10-3 receptions. This was only the second time in his career that Thielen caught over 100 passes in a season. However, in 2024, the veteran wideout dealt with injuries and was only able to play in 10 games.

During this stretch, Thielen tallied 615 yards and five scores on 48 catches.

Thielen will now join a crowded Minnesota wide receiver room that features one of the sport's best pass catchers, Justin Jefferson, and one of the game's top No. 2 options in Jordan Addison. In addition, Jalen Nailor has been a reliable No. 3 option, and the Vikings also added Tai Felton in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Despite this, Thielen does carry solid upside in Week 1. Addison will not suit up as he is serving the first game of his three-game suspension. As a result, Thielen could operate as the No. 2/No. 3 option in the offense in the short term. Even though J.J. McCarthy will be making his first career NFL start, Thielen could provide a reliable option in the middle of the field for the young signal caller.

While he is best to leave on the bench in shallow 10-team leagues, managers in deeper 3-WR formats should view Thielen as a high-floor WR3 in PPR formats, as he could have the opportunity to see a heavy dose of targets if he were to see time in the slot in their season opener against the Chicago Bears.
