Matisse Thybulle is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 8 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 49% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Sixers are healthy once for all. All of Embiid, Tobi, Danny Green, and the very own Matisse Thybulle are back playing after bouts with COVID and whatnot. Thybs sandwiched his two-week absence with two starts prior to it and three more coming off the safety protocols, but he's now back to the second unit of the 76ers. Even then, though, Thybulle should keep contributing in his niche categories.
Thybulle is one of only seven players keeping up an average of 2+ SPG on the season. Only Thybulle and Gary Trent Jr. are also turning the ball over 1.1 times or fewer per game. Not bad for a start. Of course, you're not going to roster or play Thybulle in fantasy leagues in which you're looking for a sky-high volume of shots, points, or dimes. But when it comes to defense, Thybulle can't get much better.
Thybulle has had a rough week playing off the bench in three straight and logging only 22.5 MPG, but his numbers should stabilize (and rise) over time. Prior to that three-game span, Thybulle was stealing 2.4 SPG to go with 1.5 BPG. That's Matisse for you going forward, at least until Philly moves Ben Simmons on a deal that impacts the whole rotation given the potential and collateral damage of such transaction.
