Billy Eppler and the New York Mets are in the final stages of negotiations on a contract that would make him the new general manager of the team. The deal, reported to be for four years, is expected to be announced on Friday. Eppler previously held the same position for the Los Angeles Angels, though the club never recorded a winning record in his five years at the helm. This ends a protracted search for the Mets, who have been turned down for interviews for both this position and the president of baseball operations position by numerous candidates. Eppler's first order of business will be to fill the managerial vacancy left by new Yankees third-base coach Luis Rojas.--Doug GoldringRead More News
