ANALYSIS: There is nothing to like about Kawhi Leonard's missing time while he recovers from a devasting ACL injury. Nothing, except the fact that his absence has opened the door for some guys in the Clips rotation to log bulkier minutes this season. Enter Terance Mann, he of the 40-minute G1 off the pine.
Obviously, that first game of the season was more an outlier than anything else. The 40 minutes against Golden State were sublime in terms of volume, but we all knew those ticks were going to get down--and soon. That's what has happened of late in the other four games Mann has played, with the forward playing now 27 MPG. Mann's upside comes from Leonard's being out and he basically being Robin to PG13's Batman off the pine.
Mann is dropping 8.6 PPG from the bench, which is nothing otherworldly, but his contributions on all other cats are quite nice given the minutes he's logging. Mann is pulling down 5.6 RPG, handing out 3.6 APG, stealing the ball 1.4 times a game, and turning it over less than once per game. The per-minute production is a little low because the 30 MPG mark is quite high while paired with his low usage. Not the worst player to have on the bench, but maybe still away from being a lock at a starting slot in shallower formats.
