OwnersBox Quarterback Picks

On OwnersBox, you have the option of starting two quarterbacks as this is a Superflex contest.

Ryan Tannehill, TEN ($6,600) - @ SEA

Last week didn't go well for Ryan Tannehill, but I still believe in the Titans quarterback.

Even while getting sacked a million times, he had 212 yards, a passing touchdown, and a rushing touchdown against a Cardinals defense that looks really good.

Seattle's defense is less good. After ranking 22nd in yards allowed last year, things went a little better in Week 1, but they still let a probably-washed Carson Wentz throw for 251. Tannehill is a much better QB than Wentz and has more mobility. I think this is a good play, especially because people might be out on him. You want to differentiate yourself in big tourneys.

Teddy Bridgewater, DEN ($5,800) - @ JAC

The Jags defense got shredded by Tyrod Taylor last week, as he threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns despite his weapons being Brandin Cooks and, uhh...various other guys. He threw a touchdown to Danny Amendola, for [censored] sake!!

Meanwhile, Teddy B completed 77.8 percent of his passes in his Broncos debut. He threw for 264 yards and a score and added 19 rushing yards.

Bridgewater lost Jerry Jeudy to injury in that game and was still successful, because he has Noah Fant to throw to. He also has Courtland Sutton, though Sutton had just two targets last week despite playing 80 percent of the plays. He'll do better against the Jags. K.J. Hamler and Tim Patrick add in some nice tertiary options. I love Bridgewater as my SuperFlex guy in this week's OwnersBox contest.

OwnersBox Running Back Picks

Ronald Jones II, TB ($4,600) - vs ATL

It sounds like Tampa will be starting RoJo this week.

Now, that could just mean he'll play the first series and then Leonard Fournette will come in and cannibalize all of his touches. That 100 percent could happen and it wouldn't shock me.

But when you can get a "starting" running back against this Falcons defense for the same salary as Carlos Hyde and James Conner, you have to do it...right? I mean, last week we saw Miles Sanders run for 74 yards against this team, Jalen Hurts run for 62, and Kenneth Gainwell add in a rushing touchdown.

A low floor for sure based on him having just four carries last week, but if he can avoid an early fumble that straps him to the bench, then there's plenty of upside, especially at $4,600.

OwnersBox Wide Receiver Picks

Tyreek Hill, KC ($8,100) - @ BAL

Sometimes, you have to pay up and take the best receiver.

Hill is coming off of a monster Week 1, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes targeting him 15 times. Hill brought in 11 of those for 197 yards and a touchdown.

15 targets is a LOT. Repeating that on a weekly basis is obviously unsustainable, especially with defenses putting their best players on him. But with Travis Kelce commanding a lot of attention and the Chiefs not really having a reliable No. 2 receiver for Mahomes to throw to, Hill is always going to have the most upside of any wide receiver on any slate he's on.

Bryan Edwards, LV ($4,000) - @PIT

This is my deep sleeper of the week.

Last week, Edwards was targeted five times, catching four passes for 81 yards. But it was the timing of those targets that really got me excited.

Edwards led the Raiders receivers in snaps with 57. He was targeted once in the first half, once early in the second half -- a play that involved a DPI so didn't show up on the official numbers -- and then was targeted twice on the final drive of regulation and twice in overtime. Derek Carr looked Edwards way more as the game went along, something that, to me at least, matters.
