Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Sunday 9/5

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 9/5/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to win a category on Sunday, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

We have seven pitchers going that are rostered in more than 90% of ESPN leagues. Six more are owned in more than half of leagues. That leaves us with a shade more than half of the pitchers to choose from today. We can work with that.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 9/5 - Shallow Leagues

Ian Happ (OF, LHB, CHC) - 44.6% Rostered

Matchup: vs. PIT RHP Wil Crowe

Happ's heater is still going. He is hitting .364 with four homers and nine RBI over the last fortnight. The two steals are just a bonus. The Cubs have been an adventure since the deadline, and the lineup around Happ is hindering his runs and RBI total. However, Happ has at least one hit in eight of the last nine games. He's a solid boost to the average if nothing else.

Luis Urias (2B/SS/3B, RHB, MIL) - 44.4% Rostered

Matchup: vs. STL LHP Jon Lester

Yes, that Jon Lester is still around. Urias cooled off since his strong June, but he closed August strong. Urias has at least one hit in 12 of the last 14 games with three homers, seven RBI, and seven runs scored in that span. He has been even better over the weekend, netting five hits in eight tries with a homer, three RBI, and a pair of runs against the Cardinals. Urias is a strong way to close out the week if you need MI help.

Frank Schwindel (1B, RHB, CHC) - 32% Rostered

Matchup: vs. PIT RHP Wil Crowe

Schwindel is hitting .349 with eight homers and 23 RBI since the Cubs traded Anthony Rizzo to the Yankees. Not bad. He has been even better lately. Five of those homers have come in the last six games! Schwindel has nine RBI in that span as well. He is destroying the Twins and Cubs this week. If you need a homer to break the tie, Schwindel's hot bat could be what you need.

Jonathan Villar (2B/SS/3B, SHB, NYM) - 30.1% Rostered

Matchup: at WAS RHP Josiah Gray

With Brandon Nimmo back on the IL, Villar has ascended to the leadoff role again. He likes it there. Villar is hitting a robust .480 with two homers, a steal, five RBI, and seven runs scored in the last week alone. Villar is one of the few guys on waivers that can contribute in every 5x5 category and he covers a lot of weak positions. That's a nice find on the wire.

Hitter Streamers for 9/5 - Deeper Leagues

Lorenzo Cain (OF, RHB, MIL) - 23.8% Rostered

Matchup: vs. STL LHP Jon Lester

Cain has been starting against lefties lately and that's a good thing. He has two homers, two steals, four runs scored, and six RBI in the last week. Lester frequently trolls me when I go after him, so take that for what's it's worth. On paper, all this hot Milwaukee right-handed bats should be a problem for Lester. Fortunately for us, several of them are available on waivers.

Miguel Rojas (SS, RHB, MIA) - 23.1% Rostered

Matchup: vs. PHI RHP Sam Coonrod

This is a bullpen game for the Phillies, but it doesn't matter much to Rojas. He is hitting everyone lately. Rojas has nine hits in his last 18 at-bats with a homer, five runs scored, and five RBI. There is a wealth of options in the middle infield on waivers today, so you really have no excuse not to sub one of them in for a struggling Josh Rojas or Kiner-Falefa.

Leody Taveras (OF, SHB, TEX) - 16.7% Rostered

Matchup: at LAA RHP Janson Junk

It's easy to overlook Taveras due to his terrible season long stats (.131, two homers, five RBI, seven steals). Hell, even DraftKings still has him at minimum price. However, Taveras is starting to find his groove. He is hitting .318 this week with both of those homers, four of the five RBI, four steals, and four runs scored. He's facing a guy that has been....well....junk at AAA this year. There's no reason to expect that he'll be any better in the majors.

Carter Kieboom (3B, RHB, WAS) - 5.9% Rostered

Matchup: vs. NYM RHP Taijuan Walker

Sometimes the best place to look for waiver gems is on losing teams. Kieboom has two homers and a .308 average this week with six runs scored. Walker was somewhat less of a disaster in August than July, but he's still not pitching well overall with a 6.00 ERA since the All-Star break. Kieboom might be able to get you another cheap homer to close out the week.

Pitcher Streamers for 9/5 - Shallow Leagues

Josiah Gray (RHP, WAS) - 26.6% rostered

Matchup: vs. Mets

Gray got touched up a bit by the Phillies in his last start, but that will happen to rookies from time to time. What Gray has shown us so far in Washington has enough positives to stick with him. He has 46 strikeouts in 40 innings, so Gray provides good strikeout upside if you are chasing a win there. He will probably hurt your WHIP a little, so if your ratios are close, you may need to look elsewhere. I'm willing to overlook the hiccup against the Phillies since Gray turned in three quality starts and allowed one run in five innings to the Braves in his prior starts. There is good enough upside to chase today.

Pitcher Streamers for 9/5 - Deeper Leagues

Luis Patino (RHP, TB) - 17.6% rostered

Matchup: vs. Minnesota

It's to the point that I would start my 86-year-old grandfather against the Twins right now. The offense is that bad. Michael Wacha had his best start of the season against them on Friday. Patino was inefficient against the Twins two starts ago at Target Field, but they really didn't hit him hard. They walked him hard. If Patino can pitch like the did the last couple of starts (3 runs, 10 K in 11.2 innings against the White Sox and Red Sox), he's in for a really nice game.

Taylor Hearn (LHP, TEX) - 3.5% rostered

Matchup: at Angels

Hearn hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his seven starts and went a season-long 6.2 innings against Houston in his last turn. He blanked this same Angels team for four innings back on August 5. With the way the Angels have been hitting lefties before and since, it could happen again. Hearn will pitch in a handful of strikeouts without hurting your ratios and has a good shot at a win. Not bad for a guy available in 96% of leagues.
