Michael Brantley Agrees To Join Blue Jays
Michael Brantley is in agreement on a three-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, according to a source. Financial terms of the contract were not immediately known. This comes after Toronto landed the top free-agent position player in outfielder George Springer for six years and $150 million on Tuesday night. The addition of both outfielders is bad news for Randal Grichuk and Rowdy Tellez, as the Jays now have a surplus of outfielders, including Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Teoscar Hernandez. Brantley doesn't possess a ton of power, but he's one of the better pure hitters in the game and has a career slash line of .297/.354/.440 with a .794 OPS in 1,245 games over 12 seasons. The 33-year-old will see a boost in his fantasy appeal and should hit in the top half of an imposing lineup in a great hitter's park.
