Cowboys wide receiver (WR) Michael Gallup is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 17 of the 2020 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Remember when the Cowboys were about to lit the league on fire all the way back in September? Ah, those good old times. With one of the best wide receiver corps--at least on paper--in the NFL, the Cowboys were poised to rack up wins and run the league. Not so fast, cowboy. Michael Gallup was and is part of that unit, and his season represents these Cowboys being an absolute boom/bust play.
Gallup has almost as many 20+ PPR-point games (three) has he has stinkers (<5 PPR points, four games). That's Gallup for you, which is most probably the reason why he's still available in more than half of Yahoo leagues. Gallup, though, has strung two 10+ PPR games in the past two weeks, and has reached 20+ points in two of his last four matches.
Just this past weekend, facing Philadelphia, Gallup had his best game of the season by reaching 30.1 PPR points and finishing as the WR3 overall only bested by Mike Evans and Davante Adams. It's the third time this season Gallup closes a slate in the WR1 realm (top-12 WR). Gallup did so thanks to catching 6 of his 8 targets for 121 yards and a season-high 2 TDs in 58 snaps played (83% snap share).
The Cowboys face an average defense against WRs next week in that of the Giants. New York's unit ranks 12th at stopping fantasy wideouts from scoring points, but Gallup has been good for at least 11 points in the last two games he's played and he also scored 11-3 PPR points on the Giants when he faced them back in W5 (4-of-4 for 73 yards).
