Bears quarterback (QB) Nick Foles is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 9 of the 2020 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: It's been five starts for Nick Foles as the leading man of the Bears, and six games overall if we count the one back in Week 3 in which he was subbed in for Mitchell Trubisky. Foles has been nothing close to a world-beater, sure, but he's more than an acceptable player for those of you competing in 2QB leagues. And just in case you needed another encouraging sign, Foles had his best started-game of the season yesterday to the tune of 17.9 FP.
That's correct. Foles completed 28 of 41 passes attempted (68.3%), pretty much the same as in Week 7 (28-for-40), only this time he threw 2 TDs against one interception compared to 0:2 facing the Rams a week ago. It's also been the second game in a row in which he has not rushed the ball a single time, but he's shown enough as to make you believe he can get the eventual touchdown on the ground if the situation calls for it (he scored one against Carolina a couple of games ago).
Foles ranks QB28 currently, both in total FP and FPPG. Ahead of him are players like Dak Prescott or Ryan Fitzpatrick, that won't be fantasy-relevant ROS. While Nick Foles is definitely a borderline QB2, he isn't the worst option out there and he should be good for fantasy GMs either streaming the position or with a hole because of any reason.
The Bears will face Tennessee and Minnesota before they go on a bye, and those two defenses rank 24th and 29th in preventing points from QBs, making Foles a pretty nice play the next two weeks. Foles has scored 21+ FP against defenses ranked 26th-or-worse already this season.
