Anthony Rendon Unlikely For Opening Day
Anthony Rendon (oblique) is unlikely to play on Opening Day and may even miss the first few games. Manager Joe Maddon told reporters that Rendon is "on a good path" but to expect the Angels big-time offseason acquisition to miss the first couple of games. The injury does not appear to be serious but oblique injuries are not to be dealt with foolishly in baseball. Rendon slashed .319/.412/.598 last season with 34 home runs, 44 doubles, 117 runs scored and 126 runs batted in. When healthy, Rendon and teammate Mike Trout could become one of the game's best 1-2 punch in baseball.
