New Jersey Devils defenseman Will Butcher will be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season after getting surgery on his right thumb last week. Having sustained the injury in a 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues on February 18th, Butcher has been unable to skate with his team since. The 25-year-old has had trouble taking a step forward offensively since producing a 44-point rookie season back in 2017-2018 and had only posted 21 points (four goals, 17 assists), a minus-eight rating and just 62 shots in 56 contests this season. With his recovery expected to take 3-4 months, Butcher should be ready to go at the start of the 2020-2021 campaign.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller
