Dodgers Avoid Arbitration With Chris Taylor, Others
Chris Taylor, outfielders Kike Hernandez and Joc Pederson and relief pitchers Pedro Baez, Josh Fields and Yimi Garcia by signing them to undisclosed one-year deals. Taylor is the most attractive fantasy piece of the bunch because of his ability to player almost anywhere on the diamond and his modest power-speed game. The 28-year-old hit .254/.331/.444 with 17 home runs, 63 RBI, 85 runs scored and nine steals in 2018, but he also led the National League with 178 punchouts. It was a disappointment after he slugged 21 round-trippers in 2017. Taylor is a Swiss Army knife for depth in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. Both Hernandez and Pederson have limited ceilings as platoon players for the Dodgers.
