The Cincinnati Reds recalled right-hander Tanner Rainey from Triple-A Louisville on Friday. Rainey will take the roster spot vacated by Amir Garrett, who was placed on the bereavement list on Thursday. Rainey made two appearances with the Reds earlier in 2018, allowing seven runs in two innings while striking out two. Rainey is a former second-round pick of the team but has struggled with his control at just about every stop he's made in the minor leagues. He is likely to head back to Triple-A once Garrett is reinstated.--Matt T - RotoBaller
