FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/3/16): MLB DFS Advice

Welcome to another wild Wednesday on FanDuel. It's another full slate with things starting at 2:20 ET, so be aware of the short day slate. We've got some aces on the mound including Chris Sale, Max Scherzer, Johnny Cueto, and Cole Hamels, so this should be an exciting day with lots of scoring.

As for Vegas insights, the heavy moneyline favorites tonight are the Nationals (-220), Cubs (-185), and Indians (-180) . The highest over/under as of this submission is 9 in the Twins-Indians and Athletics-Angels contests, but I expect for Dodgers-Rockies to be in the double digits and is the obvious target tonight. I'll provide some contingency plans below.

Editor's Note: RotoBaller offers the best Premium MLB Subscription - only $1.99 per week. All the tools you need to help win your seasonal and daily leagues: Hitter & Pitcher Streamers, Matchup Ratings for every player, Under-the-Radar Surgers for AVG, HR, Ks, plus daily DFS Cheat Sheets, Lineup Picks, Expert Lineups, Stacks and Avoids.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Cardinals versus Cody Reed

Reed has been a lemon since moving to the Reds in the Johnny Cueto-Royals deal last season, posting a 7.07 ERA. He was rocked in his last outing versus the Giants (including a Matt Cain home run) and things don't get easier today. The Cardinals have multiple right-handed bats to target, including Stephen Piscotty, Matt Holliday, Yadier Molina, and Johnny Peralta.

Nationals versus Zack Godley

Godley has been shuffled between the Diamondbacks and the minors but has earned another start today after his last outing versus LAD (6 IP, 3 ER). Unfortunately for Godley that couldn't prevent an ugly July (6.23 ERA) and he gets a difficult matchup with the Nats. The Nats are a top-ten offense versus RHP and Bryce Harper, along with Anthony Rendon, are heating back up. All Nats are in play today.

Also Consider: Red Sox versus Hisashi Iwakuma

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Steven Matz (SP, NYM) - $9,500

Matz finished July with a 3.19 ERA and gets a juicy matchup here. The Yankees have a .694 OPS versus LHP (26th in MLB) and they just lost Carlos Beltran. Look for the Mets to take the first game in the Bronx of the Subway Series.

Junior Guerra (SP, MIL) - $8,500

As surprised as I am that Guerra remains a Brewer after the deadline, I'm happy he is going to be available for this juicy matchup. The Padres have a .674 OPS versus RHP (29th in baseball) and they just traded their best hitter (Matt Kemp) to the team in last. Guerra should feast today.

Tom Koehler (SP, MIA) - $7,100

Here's your tourney play. The Cubs are a formidable opponent, but Koehler has been dealing (last two GS: 14 IP, ER) and John Lackey has been inconsistent of late. Koehler's ownership will be one of the lowest of the day, giving up the edge over opponent should he come out on top.

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Catcher (C)

Russell Martin (C, TOR) - $2,800

Martin has been on fire, posting the best week for all catchers. He gets homer-prone Collin McHugh, a pitcher he's handled previously (4-for-6, HR).

First Base (1B)

Mitch Moreland (1B, TEX) - $3,700

Can you name the No. 1 player over the past week? You are correct, it is Mr. Moreland. He posted a .339/.393/.750 line in July and has a .809 OPS versus RHP.

Also Consider: Joe Mauer (1B, MIN) - $2,800

Second Base (2B)

Scooter Gennett (2B, MIL) - $2,800

Gennett has been on fire (.478 AVG in past 23 AB) and has a great matchup versus Edwin Jackson tonight. Let everyone grab Chase Utley and DJ LeMahieu and take Scoot.

Shortstop (SS)

Christian Adames (SS, COL) - $3,000

Adames is expected to be the main beneficiary of Story's absence and comes at a significant discount relative to normal starters at Coors.

Third Base (3B)

Martin Prado (3B, MIA) - $2,800

Prado had an excellent July (.351/.417/.526) and loves playing away from Miami (.365 AVG). He's had success versus John Lackey (4-for-7) and I expect that to continue today.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Gregory Polanco (OF, PIT) - $3,800

El Coffee has bounced back from his DL-stint with three HR in the past week. He's still a great bet for a Combo Meal (HR+SB).

David Dahl (OF, COL) - $3,700

Dahl is off to a hot start (.370/.393/.630) and has a date in Coors versus Kenta Maeda. Dahl has a 1.027 OPS and will be counted on in the middle of the lineup now that Trevor Story is out for the season.

Max Kepler (OF, MIN) - $3,400

Do not mess with Ze Germans. Kepler has four HR and eight RBI in the past two days and has another juicy matchup versus Trevor Bauer. One thing to keep in mind: ownership will be through the roof.

Also Consider: Adam Jones (OF, BAL) - $3,500 and Marcell Ozuna (OF, MIA) - $3,000
