ANALYSIS: Anthony DeSclafani looks like a possible breakout candidate as he changed his pitch mix and usage over the last two months of the 2015 season that allowed him to notch a 9.1 K/9 to go with a BB/9 of just 1.3. Continuing to throw his less effective pitches less often and his more effective pitches more often should help him to be able to find similar success this season. Currently working his way back from an oblique injury DeSclafani pitched 4 innings at a rehab outing on Saturday 4/23 where he gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and a walk, but was also able to strikeout five batters. The most important takeaway from the outing is that Anthony is healthy and building up his durability and stamina. If all goes well in his next rehab start DeSclafani is on pace to return to the Reds rotation the first week of May. If Anthony is floating around in your league's free agent pool I would jump right in and make the addition.
