Waiver Wire Pickups, Adds, and Sleepers for Fantasy Hockey (Week 14)

What’s up RotoBallers? Welcome to my weekly edition of the fantasy hockey waiver wire. Below are a few skaters at each position that will steer your fantasy hockey team toward a championship.

Whether your fantasy hockey team is dealing with injuries or lack of production, these NHL players will help get you back on track. These players can be considered waiver wire pickups or sleepers depending on the league format.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - NHL Forwards

Colin Wilson (F, NSH) - 38% Owned

Colin Wilson is on fire. He has 17 points over his last 11 games, including six multi-point efforts in that span. The Predators haven't lost a game in regulation since before Christmas and Wilson is a big reason why. The spry forward now has 30 points, a +21 rating and 94 shots on goal in 40 games. He is showing no signs of slowing down and should be added off of the waiver wire in all formats if he is available.

Mathieu Perreault (F, WPG) - 24% Owned

Mathieu Perreault has never scored more than 43 points in a season. At his current pace, Perreault would be in line for a new career-high this year. He has 22 points since December 1st and has been on the score sheet in 16 of those 19 games. Perreault is skating on the Jets second line and number one power-play unit. He is averaging 16:45 minutes per game, but that number is on the rise. He has skated at least 17:47 in ten straight contests. Perreault is on quite a roll and seems to be improving every night. Pick him up now and enjoy the production.

Mike Fisher (F, NSH) - 28% Owned

Though he has played in only 21 games this season, Mike Fisher has recorded 16 points, with 10 of those coming in his last 10 games. Fisher has been one of the Predators most consistent forwards over the last month of action. He has a +4 rating, 15 penalty minutes, and 44 shots on goal on the year. He is a solid add in all league formats during his current point-per-game scoring trend.

Justin Abdelkader (F, DET) - 34% Owned

Sometimes it isn't just one statistic that makes a player relevant in fantasy hockey. Justin Abdelkader is playing a solid all-around game and his numbers are serviceable across the board. He has 11 G, 13 A, +7 rating, 28 PIM, 76 SOG in 36 games this season. Abdelkader has been even better lately, netting nine points in his previous nine games. He is worth adding in fantasy leagues for owners in search of secondary scoring.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - NHL Defensemen

David Savard (D, CLS) - 12% Owned

In addition to logging heavy minutes each night, David Savard has been scoring points at a steady pace. Savard has skated at least 20:00 minutes in 18 straight games and has seven points in his last twelve contests. Savard has 16 points and 30 penalty minutes on the season. His one drawback is his -10 rating, which is mostly due to his teams' poor play.  Savard has been better in that regard recently, posting a +1 rating over his last seven games. He is worth adding for fantasy owners looking to increase their overall average time-on-ice.

Tobias Enstrom (D, WPG) - 18% Owned

After missing all of December, Tobias Enstrom has returned to the Jets blue line. Enstrom has posted at least one assist in each of his first three games back from injury. He skates alongside Zach Bogosian as part of the Jets top defensive pairing. Enstrom is averaging over 25:00 of ice-time per game and has 13 points in 25 games this season. He is a workhorse defenseman with decent offensive upside. Fantasy hockey owners should take advantage of his steady play.

Dan Boyle (D, NYR) - 38% Owned

After a rough start to the season, Dan Boyle is starting to find his rhythm. Seven of his nine points have come in his last nine games. Boyle sees a good amount of time on the Rangers 1st power-play unit and should continue to contribute there as the season progresses. Boyle missed some time earlier this season due to injury, but is back healthy for a red-hot Rangers squad.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - NHL Goalies

Petr Mrazek (G, DET) - 24% Owned

Petr Mrazek is in line to take over as the Red Wings primary goaltender over the next few weeks with Jimmy Howard and Jonas Gustavsson sidelined with injuries. Mrazek has five wins in nine starts so far this season and should be a valuable goaltender throughout the month. Add him now and start him with confidence as Detroit has a solid team in front of him.

Rob Zepp (G, PHI) - 3% Owned

A win is a win. While Rob Zepp hasn't looked stellar in either of his appearances this season, he has picked up the victory both times. His .885 save percentage is nothing to write home about either, but it is a very small sample size. Zepp should continue to see some playing time with Steve Mason out for a while. Ray Emery hasn't been the answer this season. Maybe Zepp can solve the Flyers woes.
