Josh Heupel Says He's Not a Candidate for Penn State Head Coach Job
Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel has been rumored to be a candidate for the vacant Penn State head-coaching job, but the 47-year-old said that is not the case, and he does not have plans to leave Knoxville. "I wouldn't want low expectations," Heupel told Chris Low of On3Sports. "That's part of why I want to be here. We'll win big." The former Oklahoma quarterback has been excellent at Tennessee after taking over the program in rough shape after the Jeremy Pruitt era. In five seasons with the Vols, he's tallied a 45-19 record, including an 11-win season, a 10-win season, and a trip to the College Football Playoff. Tennessee was expected to take a step back in 2025 after the departures of several key defensive pieces and nearly all of its offensive production, and that turned out to be the case, as the Vols went 8-4 (4-4 in SEC) this season.
