Mike Gundy Fired By Oklahoma State
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Oklahoma State is firing longtime head coach Mike Gundy. Gundy has been the program's head coach since 2005 and has compiled a 170-90 record in Stillwater. However, his team is 4-11 over the last two seasons, and it has felt like time for a fresh start for both sides. The 58-year-old led Oklahoma State to four Big 12 Championship games with one victory, and he was just one win away from leading the 2011 team to the BCS National Championship. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here, but the Cowboys program will now be tasked with replacing its longtime head coach and former quarterback. With Texas and Oklahoma out of the Big 12, the conference is wide open, and Oklahoma State could become a major threat in the conference if it makes the right hire.
