Jayden Reed Injury Update: Is Reed on IR and Out for the Season? Fantasy Football Timeline (Week 2)

Jayden Reed - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Lineup Picks

Is Jayden Reed out for the season? When is Jayden Reed coming back? The latest Jayden Reed injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 2 of 2025.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (foot/collarbone) hasn't had a very healthy 2025 so far. He was diagnosed with a Jones fracture in his foot -- i.e., a break in the fifth metatarsal bone of the foot, if you're interested -- yet opted to play through the injury.

And Reed was effective in his first game of 2025, catching three of his five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown, despite the injury. It's possible the Packers could have limited his playing time intentionally, too, as he played just 38 percent of the team's offensive snaps.

Unfortunately, he suffered a further injury in Week 2, as he was attempting to make a long catch. He was tackled and went down hard on his right shoulder, and wasn't able to get up for a while due to the pain. He was later taken off the field and ruled out. But will he be out for the season? What's his fantasy football outlook now?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Is Jayden Reed Out for the 2025 Season?

It doesn't appear that Reed is definitively set to be unable to play for the rest of the season. Apparently, he's targeting a November comeback. Of course, it's possible that the injury might not heal as intended, and he could opt to have surgery on his broken foot and miss the rest of the season.

But for now, we should take the word of Ian Rapoport, who reported on the November date, from word from Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. The fall broke Reed's collarbone, and he's having the issue addressed with surgery. It's an unfortunate turn of events for a WR that displayed grit and toughness.

Jayden Reed 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook

Reed had a breakout rookie season, where he caught 64 of his 94 targets for eight touchdowns and rushed 11 times for 119 yards and two scores. Though he finished as the WR25 overall in PPR leagues, he eclipsed 15.0 PPR fantasy points eight times in his first year.

He entered 2024 with huge expectations, as the clear WR1 and a potential second-year wonder at the position. This didn't come to pass. Despite playing in all 17 games, he finished as the WR29 overall, suffering a dip in targets from 94 to 75, and catching just 55 passes for 857 yards and six touchdowns.

Reed's epic 33.1 PPR fantasy point performance in Week 1 and his big game with 27.1 points in Week 3 were followed up by a series of duds, with the WR failing to achieve double-digit PPR point performances in eight of his subsequent games. Reed's role in the Packers offense is limited.

He almost never played in 2WR sets, instead functioning as the team's primary slot receiver. That limits the overall number of routes he runs. And LaFleur loves nothing more than to distribute the ball around as evenly as possible. It works, though, because he's a wizard at scheming his receivers open.

That's not about to change. When Reed comes back, it's also possible that WR Christian Watson will return. LaFleur's rotation of receivers really hurts their fantasy values, and even Romeo Doubs, the receiver with easily the most playing time, hasn't been fantasy relevant for some time.

Reed projects as a mid to low-end WR3 when healthy, but due to his lingering foot injury, his ceiling and floor could both be lower. He's dependent on big plays and touchdowns to make starting him worthwhile in any given week in fantasy leagues, and it's always risky putting him in your starting lineups.

That shouldn't change when he returns.
