Will Jordan Addison Play in Week 1 or in 2025? Fantasy Football Outlook and Rookie Update

Jordan Addison - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Will Jordan Addison play in Week 1, or play at all in 2025 for the Vikings? Andy's latest Jordan Addison fantasy football outlook and update for Week 1.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has enjoyed an impressive start to his NFL career. Through his first two seasons, Addison has found the back of the end zone 19 times in just 32 games.

However, the wideout was recently hit with a suspension due to violating the league's Substance Abuse Policy.

When is Addison returning from his suspension? Will he play in Week 1? Let's dive in!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Will Jordan Addison Play In 2025?

Despite being hit with a suspension and recently leaving practice due to a hand/arm injury earlier in August, the star wideout is not expected to miss the entire campaign. On August 20, Addison was seen leaving practice and in pain due to a potential upper-body injury.

However, Addison was able to avoid a significant injury and is now only expected to miss some time due to his three-game suspension, which the league will begin at the start of the regular season.

Will Jordan Addison Play In Week 1?

While Addison was able to avoid a significant suspension, the former USC standout will not be in play in their season opener against the Chicago Bears. In fact, Addison will be held out of the starting lineup during the first three weeks of the season and will not be eligible to return to the field until Week 4 when they play against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Earlier this month, the Vikings opted to address this void in their wide receiver corps by acquiring Adam Thielen from the Carolina Panthers. Thielen spent the majority of his career with the Vikings and will look to slide into the No. 2 spot alongside Justin Jefferson now that Adison is sidelined.

Jordan Addison Fantasy Football Outlook

Despite missing the first three weeks of the campaign, the 23-year-old remains a strong target in drafts. His suspension has caused his ADP to drop quite significantly, and he has become one of the best values. On Yahoo, Addison currently carries an ADP of 97.7 and is being drafted after several wideouts with minimal success at the NFL level, such as Ricky Pearsall, and veterans with low upside like Jakobi Meyers.

When on the field, Addison has found great success despite playing with one of the top wideouts in the game.

In 2024, Addison averaged 15.1 PPR points through his first 14 games (excluding Week 18) and averaged 6.6 targets per game during this stretch. He posted an above-average 14.1 aDOT and saw 29.2% of the team's air yards, which are both impressive metrics

Addison is worth targeting in all formats and should possess WR2 upside as soon as he rejoins the starting lineup in Week 4. His ceiling could even be raised if J.J. McCarthy can find his footing in the Kevin O'Connell system early in the campaign.
