Recent Fantasy Football Quarterback News

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

Kevin Clark of ESPN believes that Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is already in the elite tier of quarterbacks. "The sky is the limit there...I put Daniels on the tier with the Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen...The way I view it, those guys prop up a championship window wherever they go," Clark said. Daniels lived up to his second overall draft slot immediately in his first year in the NFL, throwing for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 17 regular-season games and leading his team to an appearance in the NFC Championship.

The 24-year-old signal-caller also ran for 891 yards and six touchdowns during the regular season to finish as the QB5 in fantasy. Daniels' scrambling ability and creativity to make plays outside the pocket give him a high fantasy floor and ceiling, and RotoBaller has him ranked as the QB4 entering his sophomore campaign.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (foot) returned to practice on Monday, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. A teammate stepped on Jackson's foot during training camp practice last Wednesday, and although the issue was never considered serious, the Ravens gave the 28-year-old two-time MVP a few days off to rest last week. Now that Jackson is officially back at practice, he'll have two full week of practice to prepare for the Week 1 regular-season opener versus the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Only the Bills' Josh Allen is ranked higher at the QB position at RotoBaller for fantasy going into the 2025 season, so managers are going to have to pay a pretty penny to secure Jackson as their starting signal-caller in upcoming drafts. The four-time Pro Bowler is as dangerous as they come with both his arm and legs after throwing for 4,172 yards and 41 TDs and running for 915 yards last year.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (thumb) says he'll be ready to go for the Week 1 opener versus the Detroit Lions on September 7. The signal-caller recently underwent surgery on his non-throwing thumb. He returned to practice on Monday, albeit in a limited capacity. Fortunately, it's been good news for Love since his return from the minor surgery. He took a step back in 2024, tossing for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions off 268-for-425 passing (63.1%).

Love also found the end zone once on the ground. The 26-year-old has plenty of weapons at his disposal on the offensive side of the ball. However, Love will need to stay healthy. The Packers also have one of the more challenging schedules in the National Football League, which is another thing going against him. With that said, fantasy managers should wait for the official update from the team regarding his availability for Week 1.

Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints will open the 2025 season with Spencer Rattler as their starting quarterback, according to head coach Kellen Moore. The Saints are opting for experience at the position to begin the year after Rattler beat out rookie second-rounder Tyler Shough in training camp and the preseason. The 24-year-old Rattler was a fifth-round selection (150th overall) last year out of South Carolina.

He ended up playing in seven games (six starts) in his rookie campaign due to injuries to Derek Carr, and he looked like a rookie, completing 57% of his 228 pass attempts for 1,317 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. Rattler added 18 rush attempts for 146 yards on the ground and also fumbled five times. He is going to be on a short leash if he struggles, making him more of a QB3 option in superflex fantasy leagues. Avoiding the Saints' QB picture is the smartest strategy.

Dillon Gabriel, Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed on Tuesday that rookie third-round quarterback Dillon Gabriel will begin the season as the team's No. 2 QB behind veteran starter Joe Flacco, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Gabriel was ahead of fifth-round rookie signal-caller Shedeur Sanders on the team's QB depth chart for all of training camp and the preseason, and he'll now be the primary backup to Flacco to begin his first NFL season after Cleveland traded Kenny Pickett (hamstring) to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday.

Gabriel, 24, dealt with a hamstring injury of his own during camp but was able to play in the final two preseason games and edge out Sanders for the backup role. He went 25-for-37 for 272 yards, one touchdown, and a pick in two preseason games. The Browns might be in serious trouble if Gabriel or Sanders make any starts in 2025.

Jalen Milroe, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald admitted on Monday that the team will have a package of plays prepared for rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe each week. "We're going to have plays in game plans for Jalen (Milroe), and he's going to rep those with the 1s," Macdonald said. The head coach wants the division-rival San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team's opponents in the first two weeks of the regular season, to know that Milroe will be on the field for a select number of plays.

The 22-year-old will really only be worth stashing this year in dynasty/keeper formats as the expected QB3 entering his first NFL season. While Milroe has plenty of intrigue in the long term for his rushing abilities, he will need to grow as a passer. He struggled in the preseason finale over the weekend, going 13-for-24 for 148 yards, one touchdown and three turnovers.
