Luke Raley Starting Rehab Assignment on Friday
Luke Raley (back) is starting a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, according to Seattle Sports' Shannon Drayer. Barring a setback this weekend, Raley could come off the 10-day injured to rejoin the Mariners early next week. The 30-year-old veteran left-handed hitter was put on the shelf in late July due to back spasms. When Raley returns to the M's, he'll battle for playing time in right field with Dominic Canzone against right-handed pitchers, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues will continue to ignore him. In his second year with Seattle, Raley has been a part-time player and has slashed a weak .220/.343/.348 with only four home runs, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and two stolen bases in 170 trips to the plate.
