A tantalizing prospect coming out of the University of Minnesota, Winfield Jr. finally put it all together on his way to finishing as DB1 overall in Standard IDP Scoring in 2023. Unfortunately, injuries have often nagged the former Golden Gopher, and they stifled his performance in 2024. On a fantasy points per game basis, Winfield finished as DB20 overall last year, a far cry from what fantasy managers expected from a top draft pick. However, that PPG dip was due in large part to an injury in Week 14 that pulled him after just 16 snaps and tanked his per-game average. If you factor that one Week 14 game out, Winfield actually finished as DB4 overall in fantasy ppg. That jump proves that Winfield is still a top fantasy DB when he's healthy. While injuries are always a risk for Winfield, as he has missed time in three of his five NFL seasons, last year was the first in which he missed more than four games. The former All-Pro's big-play ability and history of racking up fantasy points in various ways are rare for a DB. Thus, you should still consider Winfield a top-three fantasy DB.--Chris Gregory - RotoBallerRead More News
