New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Jonah Tong posted another dominant outing on Friday evening. Facing Double-A Hartford, Tong tossed 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball with four hits, two walks, and 10 strikeouts. This was Tong's fifth start this season, tallying double-digit punchouts in a single outing. Since May 1, Tong has been one of the most impressive pitchers in the minor leagues, posting a near-perfect 1.32 ERA with a 0.82 WHIP over 61 2/3 innings of work. During this stretch, Tong has struck out 95 batters and allowed just 24 free passes. Tong is currently considered the No. 4-ranked prospect in Queens and the No. 99 overall prospect in baseball. Given his impressive promotion at Double-A, Tong should be in the mix to join Triple-A very shortly. If he can carry this momentum into Triple-A, he could keep the door open for a late-season MLB debut.--Andy SmithRead More News
