Pablo Lopez Shifts to 60-Day Injured List
Pablo Lopez (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster for left-hander Joey Wentz, who they claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lopez is dealing with a Grade 2 right teres major muscle strain in his right shoulder and was already expected to miss at least two months, so his move to the 60-day IL isn't all that notable. The 29-year-old Venezuelan hurler should be stashed in most fantasy leagues while he recovers, as he was in the midst of a strong season before his injury, going 5-3 with a 2.82 ERA (2.98 FIP) and 1.07 WHIP with 61 punchouts and 14 walks in 60 2/3 innings over 11 starts. With both Lopez and Zebby Matthews (shoulder) on the IL, David Festa and Simeon Woods Richardson have joined Minnesota's rotation.
