Rashid Shaheed 2025 Outlook: A Big-Play Receiver Lacking a Big-Play Quarterback
Rashid Shaheed lived up to his sleeper label to begin the 2024 season. The deep threat was a WR2 through six weeks before a torn meniscus ended his season, despite a scoreless Week 3 effort. Shaheed led all wide receivers in air yards share, finished third in average depth of target (17.6), and fifth in yards per reception (17.5). Five of those six games were with Derek Carr under center. The veteran quarterback retired in the offseason, leaving a hodge-podge quarterback room in New Orleans. Second-round rookie Tyler Shough is the favorite to start Week 1, with Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener competing for the job. Shaheed and fellow wide receiver Chris Olave are thus being downgraded. Shaheed is a low-end WR4 in the rankings and can be found in double-digit rounds of redraft leagues. That's great value for a receiver who needs one big play to finish inside the top 24 in any given week. He should be a priority late-round target in best ball formats.
