Five Injured Players to Stash in Fantasy Baseball - Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 4 (2025)

Luis Gil - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups - icon rotoballer

Kipp highlights five injured fantasy baseball players worth stashing in redraft leagues, as of April 18, 2025 (Week 4). His waiver wire pickups for IL players.

We've got another edition of the Injured Players to Stash in Fantasy Baseball series for Week 4 as we continue the 2025 season. Today's article examines injured players such as Luis GilJake CronenworthConnor Wong, and others.

With the 2025 fantasy baseball season getting underway, there are several injured players out there who have low roster percentages and may be available on your league's waiver wires. These players can provide a lot of value to fantasy managers, especially if they have an IL spot on their roster.

This article will be featured weekly with updated players for fantasy managers to consider picking up and stashing off the waiver wire. Without further ado, let's look at what Week 4 of the fantasy baseball season has to offer.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Luis Gil, SP, New York Yankees

Rostered: 29 percent Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Late May

2024 Stats: 3.50 ERA/171 K/77 BB/151 2/3 IP

Luis Gil is scheduled to return to the mound for the Yankees in late May or early June, so now is the time to grab him since he is rostered in 29 percent of Yahoo! leagues. He had a fantastic rookie campaign in 2024, which saw him mow down 171 batters across 151 2/3 innings pitched.

The Yankees are also eager to get Gil back as their rotation is a bit in flux, given the season-ending injury to Gerrit Cole (elbow) earlier this spring. Upon his return, the Yankees will likely ease him back in initially and let him roll.

In 2024, Gil averaged approximately five 1/3 innings pitched per start, so while not exactly an innings eater, his strikeout upside cannot be denied. He also posted a very respectable 1.19 WHIP in 2024, so he will help in multiple categories once he is reinstated.

Eury Perez, SP, Miami Marlins

Rostered: 22 percent Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Mid-to-late June

2023 Stats: 3.15 ERA/108 K/31 BB/91 1/3 IP

Eury Perez had a stellar rookie season in 2023 in which he struck out 108 batters across 91 1/3 innings pitched. Unfortunately, the campaign was unable to continue in 2024 due to Tommy John surgery.

Perez is back in the saddle currently and is set to return from the IL in mid-to-late June, and has a ton of upside for fantasy managers who are willing to wait on his return. Upon his return, he has the benefit of pitching in a great pitchers' park, and while the Marlins will not produce a ton of runs for him, he will likely be able to rack up strikeouts.

He is another young star, like Luis Gil, who posted a solid WHIP in their rookie campaign, as noted by his 1.13 mark in 2023. He should help fantasy managers in a number of categories as well, despite the lack of run support.

Masyn Winn, SS, St. Louis Cardinals

Rostered: 55 percent Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Late-April-to-early May

2025 Stats: .222/.314/.289/1 HR/3 RBI/0 SB

Masyn Winn went on the IL earlier this month with a back injury and is set to return in the coming weeks. Winn could provide a ton of value to fantasy managers who elect to pick him up off waivers.

In 2024, Winn managed to steal 11 bags and pop 15 dingers. This came across 150 games and is something he will be looking to build on in 2025.

Upon his return, he will likely be a solid run producer in this Cardinals lineup as he posted 52 extra-base hits in 2024, with 32 of them being doubles. The Cardinals are currently one of the better offenses early in the season, and this could mean big things for Winn.

Scoop him up now if you have an IL spot open and are looking for depth at the shortstop or middle infield positions.

Jake Cronenworth, 1B/2B, San Diego Padres

Rostered: 26 percent Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Late May

2025 Stats: .257/.409/.486/2 HR/5 RBI/0 SB

Adding Jake Cronenworth feels like a no-brainer here. The only concern is that he is dealing with a rib fracture, which could certainly have ramifications on his swing.

That being said, he is too productive in a stellar San Diego lineup to be left out on the waiver wire. In 2024, Cronenworth drove in 83 runs while hitting closer to the bottom of the order. He also posted a very respectable .714 OPS with 17 home runs. The fact that he is only rostered in 26 percent of Yahoo! leagues is rather astonishing.

He is eligible at first base and second base in Yahoo! leagues, so the value continues to grow with him. Add him in all formats if you have room. He makes for a great fill-in and depth piece.

Connor Wong, C/1B, Boston Red Sox

Rostered: 13 percent Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Late May

2024 Stats: .280/.333/.425/13 HR/52 RBI/8 SB

Connor Wong had a superb 2024 campaign, hitting .280 with 13 home runs and stealing eight bases. The best part about Wong is that he plays catcher, which we all know is a tough roster spot to fill in fantasy leagues.

He is currently sidelined with a fractured pinky finger and will likely not return for another month. The fact that he is just 13 percent rostered means fantasy managers could feasibly wait a bit to add him, but as soon as we approach his return date, his roster percentage will likely increase.

He will likely hit at the bottom of the Red Sox lineup, but this lineup has been rather potent early on, so he could find himself producing quite a few runs upon his return.
