Jake Ferguson fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 9 (2024). Should you start or sit Jake Ferguson for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start
POSITIONAL VALUE: Low-End TE1
ANALYSIS: Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson had another disappointing game against the San Francisco 49ers after he gained just 23 receiving yards from six catches on eight targets. Ferguson had his second-straight low-yardage game after gaining just 11 receiving yards in Week 6.

The Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers, who the Cowboys faced in those weeks, were very tough matchups. However, the target numbers have been solid for Ferg. He's been targeted 42 times in his six games played. That's an average of seven targets per game, which is fantastic usage for a tight end.
He's the fourth-most targeted TE on a per-game basis in the league, and he faces a significantly easier matchup when Dallas faces the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9. You can't bench a tight end that's being targeted as much as he is. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott appears to be ineffective against good defenses outside of garbage time.
That's the most likely explanation for No. 87's poor games. Expect him to be better in easier matchups and start him for Week 9.
