Austin Ekeler fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 9 (2024). Should you start or sit Austin Ekeler for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Sit
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB4
ANALYSIS: Washington Commanders' running back Austin Ekeler became a less interesting start recently. After establishing a solid receiving role through his first five games and scoring double-digit PPR fantasy points in each, he's only logged nine receiving yards and four catches in his last two games.
Austin Ekeler dominated the Commanders backfield touches in Week 6 getting 14 of the 16 RB opportunities.
Brian Robinson is still limited in practice through Thursday.
Are you going back to Ekeler in Week 7 in a juicy matchup? 🥩

It seems that his role is sinking even more into the "just a backup" job, and while he has solid upside in case the starter, Brian Robinson Jr., gets injured, he hasn't been contributing much as a standalone option lately. This makes him difficult to trust for starting lineups. Pass-catching upside was his main selling point before the season.
It's unclear why he hasn't gotten as much work receiving lately, but it's a concerning development that fantasy managers should keep their eyes on. He's still good to roster as a handcuff and emergency starter in hopes he can start catching the ball more again.
