Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar racked up one goal and two assists in Sunday's 4-1 victory over San Jose. Both of his helpers came in the first period, one in a power-play situation, and Makar completed the scoring with an empty-net goal. Makar tied a league record for the fewest games to 10 assists in a season by a defenseman. He's also tallied two goals while becoming the fifth active defenseman with a season-opening scoring streak of six-plus games. It's been a phenomenal start from Makar, although you can't say it's surprising, considering he put up 90 points last term while missing five games. 100 points could be a realistic target for the Avalanche star in 2024-25.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
