Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitching prospect Avery Short has flashed high-upside strikeout potential over his past few outings, and Monday was no different. On July 1, the 23-year-old tallied 10 strikeouts across seven innings of one-run ball. He allowed just two hits and two free passes. This was the second time in his past four starts that he tallied double-digit strikeouts. In this stretch, he has thrown 27 innings to the tune of a 2.00 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and a 6:31 BB:K. Short has now spent the past three seasons with High-A and is on pace to set a career-best with a 2.28 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. The southpaw currently sits outside of MLB Pipeline's top-30 Arizona prospects but could join this list if he can carry this success into Double-A.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerRead More News
