Ross Chastain had a fairly quiet run at Atlanta on Sundary evening in a race where his teammate, Daniel Suárez, stole the headlines by winning in the closest three-way finish in NASCAR history. Chastain failed to lead any laps after his Daytona near-miss, ranked only 14th in driver rating, and had below-average speed. He did drive into the top three in both Stages 1 and 2 before a speeding penalty trapped him a lap down, but he slowly moved through the field in Stage 3 en route to a solid 7th-place finish. Ross seems to be getting better at overcoming his mistakes but he was clearly outshone by Suárez, which isn't really a surprise because high-banked 1.5 milers are usually Suárez's best track type. Chastain tends to perform better on the flatter intermediates, so his season will become easier to evaluate starting at Las Vegas this upcoming weekend.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
