Deebo Samuel Injury Update

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) doesn't have a fractured shoulder, "which is a good sign," but he's dealing with a lot of pain, which makes his status fuzzy for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions. Shanahan thinks he'll have a better idea of Samuel's availability for this weekend's big game on Wednesday when the team holds its first practice.

The 49ers are considering the 28-year-old 50-50 for the game this Sunday, so there's a good chance he'll be more of a game-time decision. It will make things difficult for DFS gamers playing the two-game slate this weekend, as the Niners-Lions kick off in the evening after the Chiefs and Ravens do. And if Samuel is active, there's a chance he could be more of a decoy for the Lions' defense.

Mark Andrews Injury Update

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews (ankle) was designated to return from Injured Reserve on Friday, January 12, but he did not suit up to face the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday. Despite being a full participant at practice on Wednesday and Thursday, the 28-year-old was listed as questionable and was held out. Since it seems he was close to playing, the belief is that he could be back to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

However, head coach John Harbaugh was non-committal on his status on Monday. "We'll just see how it goes," Harbaugh said. "If he's ready to play, he'll play." It sounds like DFS gamers will have to wait a little longer to see if the Pro Bowler will hit the playing field for the first time since Week 11. If he's active, he'll be firmly on the fantasy radar, and Isaiah Likely will be a downgraded DFS option.

Brock Wright Injury Update

Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright (forearm) apparently suffered a broken forearm in Sunday's Divisional Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's a tough break for Wright, as he had just come back to play against the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the playoffs after suffering a hip injury in the Week 15 win over the Denver Broncos. Wright is now unlikely to play in the rest of the postseason.

As a result, the Lions have signed veteran Zach Ertz for extra tight end depth behind rookie Sam LaPorta for the NFC Championship this Sunday night. Detroit also has Anthony Firkser as a backup option behind LaPorta. The 25-year-old Wright caught his only target for a big 29-yard gain in Sunday's win over the Bucs, and he finished the regular season with just 13 catches for 91 yards and one touchdown in his third NFL campaign.

Jonah Jackson Injury Update

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that it's not looking good for left guard Jonah Jackson (knee) to play in this Sunday night's NFC Championship tilt against the San Francisco 49ers. Jackson left Sunday's Divisional Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first half with a knee injury and did not return. "Doesn't look really good for next week," Campbell said of the injuries. "But we'll see." Kayode Awosika filled in for Jackson at left guard for the rest of Sunday's game and figures to be the replacement there for the NFC Championship if Jackson is ultimately ruled out.

The Lions' offensive line is one of their strengths, so Jackson's injury will certainly be something to watch as they get ready to take on a very strong 49ers defensive line in a game that will decide who advances to the Super Bowl from the NFC. (LionsWire)
