NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/9/23

We have finally made it! The 2023-2024 season is upon us and we welcome the next generational talent, Connor Bedard to the front and center! With many big moves over the offseason – Karlsson to Pittsburgh – and many signings during Free Agency, this season will make for yet another interesting race to Lord Stanley!

Tonight we have a 11-game slate and two teams playing on a  back-to-back: Islanders & Columbus. The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are: Edmonton with 4.6, Tampa Bay with 4.1 and Colorado with 4. I will do my best to guide you through this eleven-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Louis Domigue - DK $6.5K || FD $8.6K

Opponent - Minnesota Wild

It doesn’t get much better than this when assessing value in goalies. Both Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick are expected to miss the dance with the Wild, leaving AHLer, Louis Domingue. The veteran is very capable for the job and has started/backed up multiple hockey clubs in his career. Minnesota’s offense is starting to regain form which means more shots headed Domingue’s way. Whether he coughs up a goal or even two, his minimum salary on DraftKings makes it almost impossible not to hit value.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Oettinger (DK $8.2K || FD $8K)
  • Ullmark (DK $8K || FD $8.3K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Ryan McLeod - DK $2.5K || FD $3.4K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

By this point, everyone knows that the Oilers are playing lowly San Jose tonight. What many may not know is that the lines went into a blender once again in an attempt for Jay Woodcroft to save his job. This means that typical third line center Ryan McLeod is now playing left wing next to Connor McDavid and McLeod is still on the second power-play unit. Alongside Louis Domingue, McLeod provides unspeakable value. The only unfortunate part about McLeod tonight, is he is center-eligible and it makes stacking him and McDavid a bit harder. Nevertheless, the Sharks are the worst in every meaningful category and even a few shots from McLeod and he hits value.

J.T. Miller - DK $6.9K || FD $8.8K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

If anyone remotely followed the Senators vs Maple Leafs game last night, you would know that Toronto’s second line cooked Ottawa all night. Why not repeat the process when they are on a back-to-back? Miller is on fire right now and grants a piece of the deadly top power-play unit. In his last five games, he has 4 goals, 3 assists, 10 shots and 2 blocked shots. His peripherals are far from ideal, however, his point accumulation is making up for it. Going up against one of the worst defensive teams in the league in a fast-paced matchup sets Miller up for instant success tonight.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Point (DK $7.4K || FD $8.3K)
  • Johansen (DK $4.5K || FD $5K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Warren Foegele - DK $3.7K || FD $4.8K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Another beneficiary from the Woodcroft shuffle is Warren Foegele. The winger has bounced around the lineup this season to see if he could spark the top six, but would eventually find himself back to the third line every time. Now he gets another chance alongside Leon Draisaitl in a more physical second line. Over Foegele’s last five games, he has 1 assist and 19 shots and he has reached the Shot Bonus on DraftKings in back-to-back performances. Going up against the team that concedes the most shots in the league, bodes well for Foegele as an optimal play on the slate.

Tanner Pearson - DK $4.3K || FD $3.9K

Opponent - Detroit Red Wings

Despite Pearson being in a relatively good matchup on Tuesday, the winger underperformed with just two shots and one blocked shot. Now he gets an arguably better matchup against Detroit’s notoriously bad second line. In Pearsons’s last five performances, he has 1 assist, 6 shots and 2 blocked shots. With plenty of names to pay up for tonight, Pearson is yet another optimal play that can provide salary relief.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Kucherov (DK $8.6K || FD $9.9K)
  • Smith (DK $5.5K || FD $5.8K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Filip Hronek - DK $4.3K || FD $5.4K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Not sure what DraftKings did to their pricing model but Filip Hronek is unfathomable value tonight. The defenseman has 8 assists, 9 shots and 4 blocked shots in his last five outings. Yes, his peripherals are shockingly low, however, his point production has skyrocketed ever since he joined Quinn Hughes on the top pairing. Also, keep in mind that Hronek quarterbacks the second power-play unit.

Calen Addison - DK $3.3K || FD $3.7K

Opponent - Edmonton Oilers

As a pure speculation play, Addison has changed scenery once again. The Wild slammed open the door of endless trades yesterday, trading Addison away and acquiring Zach Bogosian – two different trades –. Addison now heads to San Jose in need of a big restart and hopefully, for his sake, he will find his footing with his third team in his young career. He is expected to at the very least slot into the top two pairings and quarterback the top power-play unit for the Sharks. If he does manage to start this game, he provides immense value going up against the Oilers' notoriously bad defense and goaltending.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Gustafsson (DK $3.9K || FD $4.7K)
  • Shattenkirk (DK $3.7K || FD $3.8K)
