Things went from bad to worse for championship favorite Martin Truex Jr. at Kansas Speedway on Sunday. After a uncharacteristically slow performance at Darlington to start out the first round of the playoffs, Truex blew a tire at Kansas on Sunday and ended up with a 36th-place finish in the second race of the Round of 16. As the points sit now, Truex is seven points below the cut line with one race remaining in the opening round. The final event before the playoff field is cut is at Bristol Motor Speedway next Saturday evening. All eyes will be on the No. 19 Toyota in that race, as Truex hasn't had the best luck there of late. Over the last nine races at Bristol, Truex has zero top-five finishes and just one result better than 13th place.--Jordan McAbee
