James Harden Opts In For Next Season
James Harden has decided to opt in to his $36.5 million player option for next season. This was unexpected, as it was assumed Harden would decline his option and become an unrestricted free agent. Instead, he'll opt into the final year of his contract with the Sixers. Instead of staying, Harden and the Sixers will work together on a trade this summer. Harden won't be able to negotiate a new deal with his new team and will have to wait until next summer to become an unrestricted free agent. The Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks have already been mentioned as possible suitors for Harden. The eventual departure of Harden should mean more touches for Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, and De'Anthony Melton.
