Finding the right quarterback in fantasy drafts and through the waiver wire is important to fantasy success. In 1QB leagues, having a quarterback that can provide a consistent high floor with boom week upside gives teams one less position to worry about and can buoy scoring on down weeks from skill players.
In SuperFlex leagues (or 2QB) leagues, having a solid quarterback tandem can make or break seasons. Finding a consistent fantasy option as a QB2 allows fantasy managers to take risks with their QB1, opting for potential over consistency. Having a strong QB3 on the bench gives fantasy managers the flexibility to stream matchups to unlock their team’s upside.
One quarterback that has shown the ability to flash that consistent fantasy floor (and have some boom weeks) in 2022 is Geno Smith. Is his fast start repeatable? Can we trust him every week? Should fantasy managers pick him up? Read below to find out.

Should I Pickup Geno Smith for Fantasy Football?
One of the more surprising developments of the 2022 season has been Geno Smith’s production as the Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback. Smith won the job in training camp and hasn’t looked back since.
Through four games, Smith is completing 77.2% of his passes and averaging 259.3 passing yards per game. He has six touchdown passes to two interceptions. Additionally, he has 17 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Those stats are good enough to have Geno Smith as the QB10 in weekly scoring with 18.97 fantasy points per game. Based on that alone, Smith is worth rostering in all fantasy formats given the weekly floor he is providing.
Geno Smith Fantasy Football Outlook Going Forward
Some will argue that Smith has feasted lately on weaker secondaries like Atlanta and Detroit. While that is fair (Smith has averaged over 300 passing yards and two touchdowns per game the last two weeks), that doesn’t tell the whole story. Smith played much more difficult defenses his first two weeks (Denver and San Francisco) and faired just fine (196 yards per game, two touchdowns, and one interception).
More importantly, the Seahawks seem to have no reservations about letting Smith air it out. The veteran quarterback has at least 28 pass attempts in every game this season. Smith has weapons in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett and is consistently getting them the ball.
Given how bad Seattle’s defense is, it is reasonable to believe they will have to continue to throw to stay in games. That means more chance for Smith to put up fantasy numbers.
Smith is playing extremely well at the moment and is worth rostering in all league formats. Fantasy managers won’t lose anything (but a roster spot) doing it and could find themselves with a top-12 QB by the season's end.
