The Texas Rangers agreed to a deal with Michigan high-school pitcher Brock Porter on Thursday for close to $4 million, which is well over the slot value for pick No. 109 in the fourth round of this year's draft. It was made possible by getting No. 3 overall pick Kumar Rocker for an under-slot $5.3 million. Porter was ranked seventh by Baseball America as one of the top prep arms in this draft class. The 19-year-old right-hander has a fastball in the mid- to upper-90s already to go with a nasty changeup and a slider. He tossed three no-hitters and struck out 115 batters in 58 innings pitched in his last year in high school in 2022. Porter has years to develop, but his ceiling will no doubt be as a fantasy ace.--Keith HernandezRead More News
