New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (hand) spoke to reporters about his right hand injury prior to Wednesday's game against the San Diego Padres. He stated, "I'm kind of surprised, in a good way, how it feels today." He also added, "This is probably the best case scenario, for sure." Alonso is currently being considered day-to-day. The 27-year-old slugger was hit in his right hand by a pitch on Tuesday. X-rays following the game came back negative. It seems as if there's a good chance he'll avoid the injured list. The Mets are off on Thursday, so Alonso's next chance to play will be on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
