Blake Treinen Not A Lock For Closer Role
Blake Treinen as the team's closer this season, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Asked about the team's plans for a closer in the post-Kenley Jansen era, Roberts said, "I think the easy answer is Blake [Treinen]. But I don't know if that's the right answer. Right now where we're at, we don't have a dedicated closer." Evidently, the role is up for grabs as we head into the final full week of Spring Training. For reference, Treinen, 33, impressed to the tune of a 1.99 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 95 strikeouts through 72.1 innings in 2021. He had fantastic metrics on the mound and currently ranks as RotoBaller's No. 6 reliever ahead of upcoming fantasy drafts.
