ANALYSIS: It’s been a long, arduous journey back to the mound for the former sixth overall pick, but Zack Wheeler is finally ready to once again take the ball for the Mets. The 26-year-old hasn’t competed in a Major League game since 2014, when he compiled 185.1 innings and posted a 3.54 ERA. With Steven Matz hitting the DL to start the season, Wheeler, who was originally expected to begin the year in an extended spring training, was officially announced as a part of the Mets’ starting rotation Thursday. Wheeler is worth a flier in NL-only leagues, and if he ?? at home against the Marlins on Friday, he could begin to appear on mixed-league radars.
