Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans hasn't experienced the kind of start that many fantasy managers had hoped. Through two games, Evans has hauled in 10 of his 19 targets for 107 yards with zero touchdowns.
Mr. Consistent hasn't quite been himself early in the season, but fantasy managers shouldn't lose hope. Evans is heading into a fantastic matchup against the New York Jets in Week 3. A defensive unit that had absolutely no answers for the Buffalo Bills last week. It's also worth noting that the Bucs are still without Chris Godwin (ankle) and Jalen McMillan (neck) right now.
Also, rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka (groin) is listed as questionable for Week 3. That being said, Evans is looking like the only healthy option in the passing game right now. Fantasy managers should continue to ride with Evans as a WR1 this week.
AJ Brown, WR, Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown improved from his first game to his second, but that's not saying much. His most recent outing saw Brown grab five catches for 27 yards, but on the bright side, he did lead the team with eight targets after having just one in the season opener.
The star wideout is trending in the right direction, but with Dallas Goedert making a return, it's tough to say if the bulk of looks will keep coming Brown's way.
In Week 3 he faces a Rams defense that allowed him to rack up 109 yards and a touchdown when they matched up last year, and he's bound to have a breakout game eventually. Fantasy managers should continue to start Brown as a low-end WR1.
Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (foot) is listed as doubtful ahead of the Week 3 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. This isn't what fantasy managers want to see as Charbonnet has been unable to practice all week due to a foot issue.
His absence is going to mean Kenneth Walker III is likely to see a large workload on Sunday. The two backs have been splitting up the duties with Charbonnet seeing 27 rushing attempts through two games.
Now, Walker is going to be leaned on heavy in the running game against a shaky defensive unit. Fantasy managers should check back for another update just in case Charbonnet does get better. However, they should prepare to be without him for Sunday's game. Walker is looking like a must-start for Week 3 without any viable options behind him.
Javonte Williams, RB, Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams' hot start shows no signs of cooling. After back-to-back 20+ fantasy point outings, the former Broncos' workhorse will look to make it three straight top-five running back finishes when he faces the cuddly-but-leaky Bears in Week 3.
The optimism is easy to see: Williams is averaging 19 touches per game and just showcased his versatility with six receptions in last week's Dallas shootout. Fireworks are expected, but a rainy Soldier Field could tilt the game script toward an even heavier ground attack.
Chuba Hubbard, RB, Panthers
Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard looks to rebound in a tough Week 3 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Hubbard had a rough day on the ground in Week 2, gaining just 38 yards on 10 carries as the team fell behind early.
However, he was able to salvage his fantasy day with his involvement in the passing game, hauling in five catches for 39 yards and a touchdown. His Week 3 matchup with the Falcons poses an even tougher test. At 1-1, the Falcons' defense looks like a much-improved unit, allowing only 14.5 points per game. However, the Falcons' defense may be more susceptible to running backs in the passing game.
Hubbard's Week 2 performance, combined with the vulnerability of the Falcons' defense to pass-catching backs, makes him a decent start. While you can't trust him as an RB2, Hubbard against this stout Falcons defense is better viewed as a solid RB3 or flex option in PPR leagues.
