Nolan McLean Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
The former third-round pick from the 2023 MLB Draft made his MLB debut on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners.

In this start, McLean looked the part as he tossed 5 1/3 shutout innings en route to picking up the victory over the Mariners. He allowed just two hits and struck out eight batters. However, his command was alarming at times as he served up four free passes.
Earlier in the campaign, McLean opened the season at Double-A but needed only a short look before moving up to the top level of the system. Seeing him look just as strong in his MLB debut is an excellent sign for his rest-of-season outlook.
Nolan McLean Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
When McLean got the call, the Mets announced that they would be shifting veteran right-hander Frankie Montas to the bullpen. As a result, McLean will likely be given a handful of starts before the Mets make their final decision.
At Double-A, the right-hander tossed 26 2/3 innings to the tune of a stellar 1.37 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. During this stretch, he struck out 30 hitters and allowed only 12 walks. Then, during his first look at Triple-A Syracuse, McLean continued to impress, holding a 2.78 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 97:38 K:BB over 87 1/3 innings of work.
During his last four outings at Syracuse, he was especially dominant, posting a near-perfect 1.96 ERA and a 0.83 WHIP. Given his elite success in the minor leagues this season and impressive MLB debut, McLean should be viewed as a must-add in all formats this weekend.
