Week 11 Rankings Analysis - Pierre Camus vs. Industry Consensus

In a week where so many picks went so wrong, it's good to know that many others were just as wrong. Sleepers Eli Manning, Bilal Powell, and Corey Davis were all big whiffs, while purported busts C.J. Beathard, Jonathan Stewart, and Emmanuel Sanders had their best games of the season. I was almost shocked that I managed to finish a respectable 34th out of 120 experts in terms of overall rankings. For what it's worth, I've got a much better feeling about this week. 😉

As an expert ranker for RotoBaller and FantasyPros, I'll put my own personal rankings out on the table for you here and show you how they stack up against the consensus of the other 100+ experts at FantasyPros. Each week, I'll list my Top 10 per position, plus a few notable players that have risen or fallen in my rankings more than the expert consensus this week. In other words, it's where I zig when the others zag.

Note: all rankings are for standard leagues and all opinions are my own. If you have questions, comments, or incoherent ramblings related to fantasy sports, hit me up on Twitter @pfunk00 to continue the conversation.

Week 11 Quarterbacks - Rankings Analysis

My Top 10

Of this group, the most intriguing matchup comes in New Orleans. Drew Brees has barely scratched starting-caliber production over the last month, whereas Kirk Cousins is starting to step things up. The difference is the Saints have a pair of quality running backs, while the Redskins have... Chris Thompson. This week, I give Brees the edge because this game should be far more competitive than the last couple of matchups for New Orleans.

Deviation from expert consensus

Derek Carr could turn out to be a sucker bet this week, so while you absolutely have to start him in standard leagues, he is way too chalky to play in DFS. On the other hand, Matt Ryan might be faded by some due to the fact he's visiting Seattle this week. As I outlined earlier, Ryan faces a majorly banged-up secondary and could be forced to go to the air more if Devonta Freeman doesn't play.

I don't even know how or why Eli Manning is higher in my rankings again. I guess the Chiefs secondary has given up a lot of big plays and the Giants will probably be playing from behind again all day, but you'd think I would have learned my lesson. That team really wants their coach fired.

Week 11 Running Backs - Rankings Analysis

My Top 10

After spending time trying to convince @ChrisMangano that Kareem Hunt doesn't look like an RB1 any more, I go ahead and put him second in my weekly rankings. Lemme explain... Hunt hasn't scored a TD since Week 3 and hasn't run for 100 yards since Week 5. Teams are now planning to stop him first and foremost. That said, he's got a great matchup this week and a fairly soft schedule ahead. Given the state of the RB position, he needs to be treated as an RB1, but I would temper expectations from where they were early on.

LeSean McCoy may suffer from having a rookie quarterback, but he also should see heavier usage than ever. He can't be moved out of the top 10, especially with the off-chance that Nathan Peterman actually performs well.

Deviation from expert consensus

It's with great hesitation that I bump Isaiah Crowell up my rankings, but he's scored in two straight and is somehow revived ever since the Browns lost their best lineman, Joe Thomas. Go figure.

Leonard Fournette has been limited in practice this week, which doesn't bode well. He's been a surprise scratch a couple of times already and won't really be needed against the Browns anyway. Watch the injury report closely and prepare to grab Chris Ivory off the wire if you need a backup with opportunity to score.

Week 11 Wide Receivers - Rankings Analysis

My Top 10

Antonio Brown's three-touchdown explosion is underway as I type, so I feel pretty good about that pick (they lock before gametime, so no cheating here). Brandin Cooks has only scored in two games this season and has three games of less than 40 yards. The Raiders look better on paper than they do on tape, but there's still plenty of chances for Cooks to break a big play on that secondary. David Amerson ranks among the lowest-graded cornerbacks in the league while Dexter McDonald just became a starter for the first time in his three-year career.

Deviation from expert consensus

It's been a while since we saw Nelson Agholor in the end zone, so he's about due. Facing a Dallas defense without captain Sean Lee might be the ticket. His targets dropped in the two weeks before the bye, but those both turned out to be easy wins where the Eagles didn't need to pass very often.

These current rankings are obviously assuming that Dede Westbrook plays. The ankle injury to Allen Hurns should assure Westbrook at least takes the field. With a weak Cleveland secondary on tap, it's a good time to make his debut. That in turn drops Keelan Cole out of flex consideration, if he ever was in it.

Robert Woods has lit the fantasy world on fire lately with four TD in the last two games, but they aren't facing a fast-fading team like the Texans or Giants. The Vikings are likely to keep him out of the end zone, but he still has WR3 value in PPR leagues due to high target volume, averaging nearly seven passes per game thrown his way.

Week 11 Tight Ends - Rankings Analysis

My Top 10

The tight end landscape has become much clearer, with the same names appearing in similar spots regardless of matchup. The lowest tier is where we see some fluctuation and this week Austin Hooper makes an appearance. He doesn't offer the highest floor, having passed 50 yards receiving just once all year. He does have more talent than the other TEs below him, so he narrowly edges out players like Tyler Kroft and Charles Clay.

Deviation from expert consensus

Why not see if Julius Thomas can make it three in a row? The Juice has scored in back-to-back games and now faces Tampa at home. Ever since Adam Gase's scorched Earth speech preceding the trade of Jay Ajayi, Thomas has been reinvigorated. He is completely touchdown-dependent, but those who stream the TE position should consider his upside in Week 11.

Speaking of juice, I'm not down on O.J. Howard so much as I think that Ryan Fitzpatrick will lean more on Cameron Brate instead. Brate didn't benefit from the Harvard connection last week, but Howard wasn't even targeted. At a position where the value drops off quickly, you have to chase targets and red zone looks.
