Pittsburgh Steelers - NFL Betting Analysis

The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to start the regular season off with a win, as they are coming off a 2021-2022 season in which they appeared in the post-season. However, their season ended with 42-21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card. Pittsburgh is coming off a season in which they finished 2nd in the AFC North on a record of 9-7-1.

Last year, points were hard to come by for a Steelers offense ranked just 21st in points per game. In the 2021-2022 season, the Steelers averaged 20.5 points and 315.38 yards per contest against opposing defenses that finished the season in the middle third of the league in points allowed per game. The Bengals defense allowed 22.1 points per game, which placed them 17th in the NFL.

In addition to their overall offensive struggles, the Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the worst team's in the first quarter, ranking just 24th in first quarter scoring margin. The team averaged 2.18 points in the first quarter.

This week, the Steelers starting quarterback will be Mitch Trubisky. Last season Trubisky played in 6 games for the Bills, but did not make a start. This will be his 6th year in the NFL. This season, he will look to replace the production of Ben Roethlisberger who threw for 3,740 yards on a completion percentage of 64.5%.

Coming into the season, the Steelers defense will look to build on last year's performance, as they finished 20th in the league in points allowed per game (23.4). Last season, the Steelers defense ranked 20th in points allowed per play.

Cincinnati Bengals - NFL Betting Analysis

This year, the Cincinnati Bengals will be looking to build on last season's success, as they represented their Conference in the Super Bowl, dropping the game 23-20 to the Los Angeles Rams. Last year's team had an overall regular season record of 10-7-0, good for the top spot in the AFC North.

As the Bengals take on the Bengals, they will hope for a big game from last year's 8th ranked offense. Last season's unit averaged 27.1 points per game. This week, Cincinnati will face off against last year's 20th rated scoring defense. In the 2021-2022 season, they scored an average of 28.0 points per game against teams that finished in the middle third of the league in points allowed.

In their 9 games when they held a lead (2021-2022), the Bengals finished with a record of 8-1-0. Overall, they averaged 12.53 points per game in the first half.

Heading into the game, quarterback Joe Burrow enters his 3rd Season of his career. For the season, Burrow played in a total of 16 games for Cincinnati. In terms of production, he threw for a total of 4,611 yards, placing him 6th in the league.

This season, the Bengals will look to take the jump into the top 10, as last year's defense finished near the NFL average in points allowed per game at 22.1. The unit only gave up 22.1 points or more in 7 of their games.

Today's NFL Betting Pick - Steelers vs. Bengals

Heading into this week's action, Cincinnati will look to add on another win over Cincinnati, as they have gone 3-2 over their past 5 games. With a combined scoring average of 40.2 points per game, the over-under record comes in at 3-2-0. Last season, the Steelers and Bengals met up for 2 games, with Cincinnati winning both matchups by scores of 41-10 and 24-10.

In terms of betting vs the spread, the Steelers have the leg up, going 3-1-1 ATS. Pittsburgh comes into the game having averaged 17.8 points per game vs Cincinnati (last 5). On the other side, the Bengals are at 22.4.

Going back to the 2021-2022 regular season, the Steelers put together an ATS record of 8-9-0. Similar to their overall ATS record, betting the Steelers on the road provided mixed results as they covered at a rate of 50.0%. The 2021-2022 Steelers were the underdog by more than 6.5 in 1 game, going 0-1 ATS. The Steelers went on to lose the game by -26.0 points.

Last year, the Bengals put together an ATS mark of 10-7-0. Even though the Cincinnati Bengals put together a stong overall record vs the spread, their covered just 44.0% of their home games. In the 2021-2022 season, the Bengals played 3 games in which they were favored by more than this week's point spread of -6.5, going 1-2 ATS. In these games, Cincinnati had a positive average scoring differential of 6.67 points.

The Pittsburgh Steelers come into this season off a 2021-2022 campaign in which they finished with an over-under mark of 7-10-0. In last year's games, the Steelers made up for just 46.0% of the points scored. They also made up for 43.0% of the scoring in games that went over the posted over-under betting total.

Last season, the Bengals had an over-under record of 8-9-0. The Cincinnati Bengals accounted for 55.0% of the overall scoring in the 2021-2022 season. This trend includes games that surpassed the over-under betting line, where the Cincinnati Bengals were responsible for 54.0% of the points.

Recommended ATS Betting Pick: Bengals -6.5

Recommended OU Betting Pick: Over 44.5
