The Minnesota Vikings held future hall of fame running back Adrian Peterson out of practice on Wednesday due to ankle and shoulder injuries. This news does not come as much of a surprise considering Peterson himself said he would likely miss practice time this week.
However, Peterson and his head coach Mike Zimmer both believe he will be good to go on Sunday Night Football against the New York Giants. Keep an eye on his status, but if he plays he should be considered a must-start RB1 for championship week.
Peterson has a great season thus far. Through 14 games he has rushed for 1314 yards on 286 rushes for an average of 4.6 yards per carry. He has scored nine touchdowns and added 28 receptions for another 206 yards.

The 30-year-old has slowed down a tad, but he is still among the best fantasy football running backs.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have two young running backs that they’re hoping can someday become just half as good as Peterson. Unfortunately one of those running backs, T.J. Yeldon is dealing with a sprained MCL and is questionable to play in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints.
If Yeldon can’t go, that means former college quarterback Denard Robinson will carry the load. Robinson is dealing with an injury of his own, but it isn’t expected to keep him out of action.
Robinson is a playmaker and a threat to score from anywhere on the football field. If Yeldon can’t go, Robinson should be considered a RB2 in a very favorable matchup this week. He could certainly help fantasy football owners bring home a championship this week.
Speaking of the New Orleans Saints, they claimed running back Travaris Cadet off waivers from the San Francisco 49ers this week. Cadet has absolutely no fantasy value going forward, but he may find himself on the team’s active roster against the Jaguars this week.
With Mark Ingram out, Cadet will back up C.J. Spiller and Tim Hightower. However, Hightower is the only one worth starting this week. He can be considered a low-end RB2 against the Jaguars.
Looking beyond 2015, only Peterson, Robinson and Yeldon have any value. Yeldon, however, has the most value in dynasty leagues. The rookie rushed for 740 yards on 182 carries and two touchdowns before getting injured. He also had 36 receptions for 279 yards and another touchdown in the passing game.
